Term: Explain how drinks such as fruit juice and soda can cause more diarrhea.
Definition: The more unabsorbed glucose will the osmolality in the lumen of the intestines and decrease the amount of water reabsorbed.
Card 2:
Term: Explain how fluids with more sodium, such as chicken broth can also cause diarrhea.
Definition: There is decreased solute for the coupled co-transport of sodium/solute (mechanism #3 above) so water will not be reabsorbed.
