Academic Positions and Institutional Support Endowments
Endowed academic positions can take many shapes. They can be:
- a tool to recognize outstanding researchers that can be targeted to a particular area (recent examples have focused on infectious diseases, neurological recovery, and cancer research)
- an incentive for innovations in health care education, honoring some of the most talented of the university’s teaching faculty
- a way to help spur clinical breakthroughs by recognizing faculty with expertise in a certain specialty
